Playroom Setting for Diagnostic Family Interviews
Abstract
The author describes the use of a playroom setting for diagnostic family interviews in which play therapy and family interviewing techniques are incorporated. By using this method the diagnostic team can accumulate valuable diagnostic data on the family, while causing the least discomfort and stress to the children. The method also acquaints the parents with the use of the playroom and play materials in play therapy. After having used this technique for two years, the author believes that it could easily be adapted to family therapy for families with young children.
