THE EVALUATION AND TESTING OF PSYCHOPHARMACEUTIC DRUGS
Abstract
There is a great current interest in the evaluation and use of psychopharmaceutical agents in the investigation and treatment of mental illness. Clinical investigation of these drugs is made difficult by a number of non-pharmacological factors which can influence the mood and mental status of an individual. The role of the hospital, the patient society, doctor and attendant have been reviewed in order to illustrate their effect on a patient who has become a part of a drug study.
