A Cyclazocine Typology in Opiate Dependence
Abstract
The authors present a typological classification useful in the therapy of opiate dependence based on patients' self-ratings of their need for opiates. Fourteen male subjects on cyclazocine treatment for up to two and one-half years reported less dependence on opiates for normal functioning than 17 male subjects who discontinued treatment. The existence of a consistent heterosexual relationship was significant in successful cyclazocine treatment. Enlisting patients' wives to supervise the daily cyclazocine intake has proven useful.
