Insurance Reports as a Threat to Confidentiality

With the growth of health insurance coverage of mental disorders, the danger of breach of confidentiality in reports made in connection with insurance claims has increased. The author describes various kinds of abuse of confidentiality, citing some examples. He recommends more stringent application of the APA insurance guidelines to meet some of the problems and also advances other suggestions for corrective action.
