A Community Mental Health Center Built Around a Private Practice
Abstract
A group of Texas psychiatrists, working through a private, profit-making corporation, have been providing service to medically indigent patients by means of a contract arrangement since 1964; no federal funds are involved. During this period the group's private practice has increased substantially. The author believes the model he describes permits simultaneous pursuit of the goals of community service and fiscal success.
