The Psychiatrist-Nurse Team and Home Care in the Soviet Union and Amsterdam
Abstract
The systems of home treatment for the mentally ill observed by the authors in three cities abroad—Moscow, Leningrad, and Amsterdam—are based in part upon the delegation of a broad area of responsibility to the psychiatric nurse. The greatly expanded role of the nurse in these systems offers one solution to the problem, faced in this country as well, of utilizing scarce manpower resources in the most efficient way to meet the comprehensive mental health needs of the community.
