Employment Problems of Schizophrenic Patients
Abstract
This investigation of factors affecting the successful employment of former patients hospitalized for schizophrenia revealed that degree of residual mental illness, marital status, and skill were most closely related to continuity of posthospital employment. The authors conclude that the employment problems of these former patients may be resolved most realistically by the continuously available resource of a sheltered workshop—located, preferably, within a comprehensive community mental health center.
