It is my conviction that direct and constructive communication with all whose attitudes affect the patient's illness can ultimately bring about real improvement in the therapeutic efficacy of psychiatry generally, effect a closer collaboration between the psychiatrist and his non-psychiatric medical colleagues, and notably increase the usefulness of the psychiatrist in the field of medicine.
