Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/ajp.128.4.407

The authors describe a model unit utilizing the nonphysician as primary inpatient therapist for psychiatric patients in a university hospital. The theoretical basis, administrative structure, training program, methods of operation, and problem areas are discussed.
