The Impact of Medicare on Psychiatry
Abstract
Medicare is having a tremendous impact on psychiatry and the rest of medicine. The author feels that the restrictions on psychiatric coverage in this law, rather than being a handicap, should serve as a challenge to the profession to modify existing practices and attitudes so that psychiatry can meaningfully cope with the benevolent philosophy of the legislation.
