THE USE OF COURT PROBATION IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ALCOHOL ADDICT
Abstract
A pilot and controlled study of a court program using suspended sentence and summary probation to community treatment facilities has been outlined. Preliminary results indicate a dramatic drop in drunk arrest rates. Further studies are contemplated to explain why the decline occurred and to see if there are any characteristics of chronic drunk offenders that would suggest one treatment program rather than another.
