Abstract
1. A case of transient auricular fibrillation in the use of electroconvulsive therapy is presented.
2. Electrocardiograms were taken prior to the electroconvulsive therapy and during the clinical manifestations of the fibrillation. An electrocardiogram was repeated 4 months after the auricular fibrillation occurred. Evidence of permanent cardiac involvement has been persistently negative.
3. A review of the literature has failed to reveal auricular fibrillation as a complication of electroconvulsive therapy.
