Cariprazine has a unique pharmacological feature of being a partial agonist with high affinity for D3 receptors, making it a potent and efficacious second-generation antipsychotic. The authors discuss its mechanism of action, administration and pharmacokinetics, and indications, as well as clinical studies and special populations regarding the use of this promising medication.
