Preventive Mental Health Programming for a Non-Health Agency

To introduce and maintain a preventive mental health program in a federal agency such as Job Corps has special requirements: a recognition of the goals of the organization, selection of personnel on the basis of proved past experience or special talent, and responsiveness to the youthful high-risk minority population the agency serves and to the staff that works with them. This paper describes how the authors attended to these requirements and developed a meaningful and effective mental health program.
