UNUSUAL BRAIN SYNDROME SEEN WITH DIPHENYLHYDANTOIN AND PENTOBARBITAL
Abstract
An unusually severe acute brain syndrome secondary to diphenylhydantoin and pentobarbital is reported. Evaluation and diagnosis were delayed by the periodic quality of the disturbance seen which misled many to view it primarily as hysterical or schizophrenic in nature. The use of diphenylhydantoin in excess of 300 mg. daily seems ill advised.
