Board Certification in Child Psychiatry: Recent Developments

The authors describe the evolvement of board certification procedures in child psychiatry and a nationwide three-year study undertaken by the Committee on Certification in Child Psychiatry of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. The purpose of the study is to improve the validity and reliability of the Board examination, identify and incorporate new developments in the field in anticipation of future national requirements for periodic recertification, and generate data that will assist training directors to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their programs.
