Rehospitalization Versus Family Crisis Intervention

The author describes the development of a team approach to crisis intervention. By mobilizing family support, the team was usually able to bring about the resolution of the patient's crisis without resorting to hospitalization. This approach has also served to develop the concept that a family can and should share responsibility for the patient's treatment.
