Unusual Patterns of Crime During La Violencia in Colombia
Abstract
After describing the atrocious crimes characteristic of the period known as La Violencia in Colombia, the author presents a formulation about the psychological factors that may have contributed to their commission. When a state of social and political unrest arose in the country, bringing about the collapse of the traditional repressive forces, a chain of psychological developments was begun that culminated in the unleashing of intense destructive rage.
