USE OF AMPHETAMINE (BENZEDRINE) SULPHATE IN THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC ALCOHOLISM

1 The psychiatric service of the Cincinnati General Hospital, and the psychiatric department of the University of Cincinnati Medical College.

The use of benzedrine sulphate in the treatment of a series of 24 general hospital patients all suffering from severe chronic alcoholism and alcoholic addiction yielded poor results. Some of the possible reasons for these results have been discussed.
