THE EFFECT OF ALCOHOL ON CEREBRAL METABOLISM

The cerebral metabolism was estimated in 10 patients in an acutely intoxicated condition, and after recovery from the alcoholic bout. The cerebral uptake of oxygen was diminished in 6 cases, and within normal limits in the remaining 4. After recovery the uptake of oxygen was within normal limits in all cases.
