I. Relation to Paraergastic Reactions

Clinical observation of paraergastic components occurring in obsessive ruminative tension states have led us to a study of the fundamental gross relationships involved. Very little appears in the literature concerning this subject. A group of cases is presented which shows that a relationship does exist between these diagnostic groups on the basis of incidence according to sex, psychological type, clinical personality type, body type, complications with other functional mental conditions and rate of recovery. Two typical cases are presented and analyzed briefly with a view to determining the foundation of this relationship and a summary of 87 cases analyzed is given.
