The prevalence of anxiety disorders in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Fifty consecutive outpatients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease were evaluated for lifetime prevalence of psychiatric morbidity.
Eight percent had a diagnosis of panic disorder. This finding suggests that
this patient population should be monitored for panic disorder.
