Treatment of severe obsessive-compulsive disorder with fluvoxamine

Ten obsessive-compulsive patients received single-blind treatment with
fluvoxamine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, for several weeks
following at least 2 weeks of placebo. The group showed significant
improvement, as measured by several clinical scales and self-ratings; six
patients were judged responders. Fluvoxamine appears effective in treating
severe obsessive-compulsive disorder.
