This statement is an adjunct to the position statement on substance abuse published in the June 1981 issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry, which emphasizes diagnosis and treatment. It replaces the position statement on marijuana laws published in the May 1979 issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry.
