Monoamine oxidase inhibitors as treatment for depressed patients with primary degenerative dementia (Alzheimer's disease)
MA Jenike
Two Alzheimer's patients with disabling depression failed to respond to
standard antidepressants but improved with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor.
The author points out that the cholinergic system is involved in
Alzheimer's symptoms and that demented patients have high monoamine oxidase
levels.
