Biochemical RBC abnormalities in drug-free and lithium-treated manic patients
RS Jope, LC Tolbert, SM Wright and W Walter-Ryan
RBCs from two lithium-free manic patients displayed lower choline transport
and higher choline concentrations and methionine S- adenosyltransferase
activity than those of controls. Lithium therapy decreased RBC methionine
S-adenosyltransferase activity to normal, decreased choline transport
further, and increased choline concentrations further.
