Plasma GABA levels in chronic alcoholics
JA Coffman and F Petty
Ethanol intoxication has been noted to cause marked changes in brain and
CSF levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Using plasma GABA levels to
assess brain GABA activity, the authors found that 85 chronic alcoholics
had significantly lower levels than control subjects.
