The evolution of modern psychiatric care in Nigeria
OA Erinosho
The author discussed the development of modern psychiatric care in Nigeria.
There are two primary conceptual orientations among mental health workers
in the country--the "non-culture bound" and the "culture- bound" approaches
to mental health care. The effectiveness of modern psychiatric care in this
society might well depend on the extent to which commonly accepted notions
of mental illness are accommodated by professional care agents.
