The medical-student spouse syndrome: grief reactions to the clinical years

Medical students beginning the clinical years experience a change in
routine that results in their spouses suffering the partial loss of a loved
one. The author describes the way in which the spouses react to this loss
as a grieving process with three stages--protest, despair, and detachment.
