Psychoemotional aspects of mastectomy: a review of recent literature

The author reviews the recent literature on the psychological aspects of mastectomy, including psychological reactions to the procedure and appropriate intervention strategies. He discusses individual and familial fears and concerns related to mastectomy and emphasizes the importance of preoperative counseling and postoperative rehabilitation.
