Erotomania

DAVID E. RASKIN M.D.1, and KATHLEEN E. SULLIVAN M.S.W.2

1 Associate Professor of Psychiatry, University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center. 325 Ninth Ave., Seattle, Wash. 98104
2 Social worker, University of Chicago

The unusual syndrome of erotomania consists of a delusional belief, usually in a woman, that an older man of higher social status is in love with her. The authors review the few cases of erotomania described in the literature and present two new cases. They also discuss some new dimensions in understanding this condition.
