The authors describe a predominantly Filipino village in Hawaii that underwent drastic economic and social changes without disintegrating. They conclude that with the right ingredients of leadership, community planning organizations, and a sense of community identity, change can be dealt with effectively and with a minimum of psychiatric disruption.
