This paper describes the normal reactions of 4O wives of noncareer Army men to the abnormal stress of their husbands' assignments to Viet Nam. The authors point out that little is known about this high-risk group and that little has been done to reduce the stress that family members experience when a husband is ordered to combat. They suggest that studies of this group be undertaken and that special programs be developed for their benefit.
