The author discusses the establishment and training program of a Navajo school for medicine men and his involvement in it. From a psychiatrist's point of view, he describes the nature of the curative ceremonies and a few of what he perceives as their effects. He also discusses his role in teaching the medicine men and trainees something about medicine and psychiatry and their reactions to these.
