The authors studied the effects of single and repeated doses of medication on the same individuals. They compared the direction of change found after an individual had taken a single dose of medication with that found after he had taken the same drug for one week. When chlordiazepoxide was administered, the direction of change noted after the single dose was indicative of that noted after repeated doses.
