The author describes activist medical students in terms of their core valueshumanitarianism, moral integrity, and the desire for meaningful communicationand their primary psychological tasksachieving cultural continuity and integration of their personalities. He discusses the conflicts they experience with their school administrations and the methods used to resolve them, and concludes that the roles of activist and student-physician are compatible.
