After Transplantation—The Child's Emotional Reactions

This study examined the emotional responses and adaptation of 36 children who had received renal transplants. They were examined immediately following their hospital discharge and upon return visits to a post transplant clinic up to six years later. Of the 32 children who survived, four showed significant emotional reactions. The author stresses the need for alertness on the part of the nephrologist, surgeon, and psychiatrist in dealing with emotional problems of child transplant patients.
