Swedish and American Psychiatry: A Comparative View

A service of the government, Swedish psychiatry is more a part of traditional somatic medicine than in America, and the psychiatrist's role is more that of a symptom remover than a problem solver. Having missed the era of individual, dynamic psychotherapy. Sweden is working out its mental health problems in a social and community perspective.
