The Group Treatment of Male Exhibitionists

JAMES S. WITZIG M.S.1

1 Staff psychologist, 217 Eugene Medical Center, Eugene, Ore. 97401

The author describes the results of group therapy for male genital exhibitionists in a community mental health clinic. Group treatment in an open setting was found to be an efficient and effective program if certain diagnostic considerations were observed. On the basis of his own experience as well as reports in the literature, the author identifies the majority of male exhibitionists as obsessive-compulsive neurotics rather than true sexual deviates.
