Astasia-Abasia: A Report of Two Cases at West Point

Astasia-abasia, an uncommon and severe conversion reaction, was seen in two first-year West Point cadets. The author interprets the appearance of this disturbance as an extreme, primitive defense against the acute stresses experienced by a new cadet at the academy.
