Brief Home Visits by the Clinic Therapist in the Treatment of Lower-Class Patients

MANFRED I. BEHRENS M.D.1

1 Department of Social and Community Psychiatry, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Bronx, N. Y.

They provide a better understanding of family dynamics and result in the development of improved patient-therapist relationships. They may also aid in the prevention of hospitalization. The home visit is of greatest value when made by the person directly responsible for patient care and not by an intermediary.
