The Nonpsychiatrist Physician as a Liaison Teacher of Psychiatry

The nonpsychiatrist physician, working in collaboration with a psychiatrist and participating in a supervised program of training in principles of psychiatry, is an effective liaison teacher of psychiatry to members of his own specialty. A liaison teaching program within the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology is described. The broad participation of members of both specialties in the program has resulted in multidisciplinary research as well as increased understanding of mutual problems.
