The Use of Videotape Recordings in Conjoint Marital Therapy

IAN ALGER M.D.1, and PETER HOGAN M.D.1

1 500 East 77th Street, New York, N. Y. 10021

Use of videotape recordings in conjoint marital therapy is now feasible because of the availability of inexpensive equipment. This technique allows the immediate recovery and review of a large amount of objective data concerning interactions during a therapy session. Especially important is the marital partners' increased awareness of the multiple channels of communication, many of them contradictory, between themselves.
