ELECTROSHOCK AND THIORIDAZINE THERAPY IN THE PRESENCE OF GLAUCOMA

MERLIN H. JOHNSON M.D., and JOHN R. DAVIS M.D.1

1 VA Hospital, and the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, Wash.

This report outlines the care of a patient with glaucoma complicating a depression and illustrates the successful use of EST, and later, of a phenothiazine compound. The complication of glaucoma is an infrequent one, but when it occurs the lack of readily available information presents the clinician with little to guide him in his choice of treatment. The management outlined in this report appears to be safe as far as the ocular disease is concerned.
