1. A new modification of the conventional metrazol convulsive therapy is desscribed in which the chemical action of a large dose of an analeptic upon the central nervous system is utilized without producing convulsions in any form and completely avoiding the anxiety which is known to be inherent in the convulsive treatment.
2. The usefulness of this technique in accidental or suicidal barbiturate poisonings is apparent, since it produces a rapid and effective reversal of barbiturate anesthesia.
3. The series described is limited in scope; however, the clinical findings thus far observed warrant further investigation of the technique since it appears to be effective in a variety of psychiatric disorders.
4. The method is safe and has no significant side effects or contraindications.
