THE ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY OF THE BRAIN IN A CASE OF ATABRINE PSYCHOSIS

1 The Ezrat Nashim Mental Hospital and the Department of Neuropsychiatry of the Rothschild Hadassah University Hospital and the Hebrew University Medical School, Jerusalem.

Repeated and systematic electroencephalographic examinations in a case of atabrine psychosis showed a marked slowing down and disorganization of the electrical activity of the brain. Clinical improvement was accompanied by a progressive return to normal of the electroencephalographic traces.

In reviewing the pertinent literature the correlation between the clinical and the electroencephalographic findings is discussed.
