A NOTE ON THE INCIDENCE OF RHEUMATIC HEART DISEASE AMONG CRIMINAL PSYCHOPATHS

WILLIAM R. ROSANOFF 1

1 Assistant Surgeon (R), United States Public Health Service, Springfield, Mo.

Rheumatic heart lesions were present in 0.60 per cent of a group of 662 criminal psychopaths as compared to an incidence of 1.49 per cent in a roughly comparable control group of 18 and 19 year old selective service registrants. Rheumatic encephalopathy must be a very infrequent etiologic factor in the criminal types of psychopathic personality.
