PSYCHONEUROSES INCIDENTAL TO PRE-FLIGHT AND PRIMARY FLIGHT PILOT TRAINING

An attempt has been made to describe the major psychological reactions observed in aviation cadets in the pre-flight and primary flying phases of pilot training.
The successful completion of the pre-flight phase carries with it the necessary adaptability for strictly disciplined group living plus the successful repression and suppression of the fears incidental to the approaching military flying.
The successful completion of the primary flying phase calls for more specific ability to suppress not only the fears of military flying but also the somatic accompaniments of flying.
