In a prospective study of 41 acutely psychotic patients, neuroleptic-
induced dystonic reactions occurred in 62.5% of the manic patients (10 of
16) and 66.7% of the schizophrenic patients (10 of 15), a nonsignificant
difference. These findings contradict a recent report suggesting a higher
risk for this side effect in mania.
