Abstract

The traditional role of the psychiatrist in correctional institutions has been limited to diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders. The authors describe an experimental program at Clinton Prison which, under psychiatric direction, is directed toward rehabilitating the persistent offender, training correctional personnel, and doing research into the causes and treatment of criminal behavior.
